"Don’t worry be happy"
Well here’s a quote that’s easily said, but in practice after: a rainy day, broken heels on favorite pair of shoes (never happens with shoes you were thinking about giving away anyways), an episode of Oprah you forgot to tape and a burned pizza…you sort of don’t feel like it.
But there’s good news! Thanks to the ‘Happy Score’ you can make sure you have a happy day, everyday... How does it work? You score at least 20 ‘Happy Point’s' a day(not to be confused with a particular supermarket’s Happy Days Points…)and tataaaa according to the theory you'll live a happy life...To easy? Perhaps well probably, but definitely worth the try...
Some examples on how to score:
1 point:
Smelling fresh laundry. So here’s some good advice: wash your clothes!
Having a glass of cold water/diet coke/regular coke/wine… (scrap by personal favor) when you’re really thirsty.
Singing along with your favorite music
3 points:
Making a homecooked meal
Sporting (I might be repeating myself, but, petanque anyone?)
Having a good night sleep (only 3 points officially, but I would personally give 5)
5 points:
Giving someone a hug (if you hug somebody really disgusting I am pretty sure it’s a minus point, so choose wisely)
If you toss in an ‘I love you’ you get 5 extra points, what a bargain (this does not include declaring your love to the first guy you see in the bar after 3 tequila shots.)
Doing something nice for yourself. I think this might be one of my favorites! So yesterday I painted my nails in a pinkish orangey shade and yess my happy mood went up…
Giving someone a compliment
Buying someone a gift (pick me!)
Having a good conversation
Who ever thought happiness was as simple as mathematics?
Good Luck!

IT girl: Olivia Palermo,
She may not be the most loved person on MTV's reality show The City, she does get the award for ‘ever stylish’.Olivia is the real Blair Waldorf. Her famous quote “I may be a young girl, but behind every young girl is a powerful father.” sort of enforces the resembles…not a good pr move, but hey, Olivia has style and that's the part we love about her!
If I could switch wardrobes with any celebrity I would pick Olivia! She's fashionable but always in a classy way.
Olivia is your typical NY socialite. She befriends a lot of designers and you can see that by checking out her styles (Miss Palermo has a thing for high end clothes, who could blame her?)
Olivia gets it right, from top to toe. She often accessorizes with a statement necklace, she even designed a line for designer friend Roberta Freymann, prices between $ 175 & $300. I shopped and found a similar style at New Look, jeeeuj!
Coco Chanel said copying was the biggest compliment, I will have to agree...with compliments Olivia!
Some of her top outfits! Hmm, dream away…
Olivia with a statement necklace
Steal her look with a necklace from New Look
Here Olivia wears a dress by Roni over a Club Monaco top with a Topshop belt and tights. The bag is Valentino, the boots are by Baker , accesorised with some vintage bracelets.
A peek in Olivia’s closet, jealous? Me? Noooo? But I must say the zebra print suprised me, i did not see that edge in Olivia.
With boyfriend Johannes Huebl.

She shoots, she scores: some summer sales
Something very unexpected happened, I went sales shopping and despite all expectations came back with nothing but: sales! Little wave for myself please?
Perhaps the fact that I was caught in a major rainshower had something to do with it. Basically I was forced to stop my trip and flee home…
But a little review of the ‘rainless’ hours I could spend, to be complete I added some earlier stuff.Yes I admit, I went salesshopping more than once...
I bought a great pair of shoes at Essentiel, gladiator model but with a heel. I already spotted them at the beginning of the season, but I could finally make them mine now. They are bronze so perfect to accompany any outfit…and (the best is yet to come) they’re comfy!
I discovered a GREAT Zara jumpsuit… I saw it, fell in love with it, bought it! Life can be just that simple…Now all I need is an occasion to wear it to (party anyone?)
I love jumpsuits, you need one item and you have the outfit, when in hurry, this is what you need! My boyfriend says my other jumpsuit looks like a pyjama but I have convinced myself that he has no fashion sense at all and has no idea what he’s talking about. (he agreed when I pointed this out after his remark)
So, this one is actually from another shopping trip from my ‘before blog’ blog period, but too good to spare you.. . A fuchsia vintage dress, I got it on sale at Belchique. A great vintage address in Antwerp, the shop is actually closed for now, but word goes they’ll be organizing, summer & winter sales. I’ll make sure to keep you posted on date & location for this ‘not to miss’ event.
Then finally (also from another trip) but well, same excuse as above, too good! A long silk Talking French dress…I’ve decided not to spare for chique events but to just enjoy the investment and wear it as much as possible.
Sometimes I have this weird thing about nice clothes that I want to ‘keep’ them for nice occasions. My aim is to let this neurotic behavior go and to wear it all before it goes out of fashion and you wouldn’t want to be caught dead in it.
Everybody in favor of making everyday a Dressing Party?

Clearing out my closet, clearing my head.
Yesterday, I decided to clean out my closet…well actually I still have one closet at my parent’s home, and this particular closet needed some reviewing. The stuff in there is, my best estimate, from around the late nineties. Is that old enough to be vintage?
Anyways, I did find some hidden treasures, some great carnival outfits and some stuff that is ok, but just does not fit anymore or is not ‘me’ anymore. So I decided to take this project seriously and to also sign up for a flee market begin September to get rid of the numerous things that have been lying there for years. Date and location will surely follow.
So I promised this would not become a blog about cleaning etc. (see very first post of my blog) but I have to say, sometimes, I just love the process of a cleaning day. You start from scratch, then you go through complete chaos. Then there's a phase where you laugh trying on ridiculous clothes thinking you might have had temporary insanity while buying them.
(What’s that saying: fashion fades, style remains? Well my nineties style is not ‘remain’ proof I can tell you that!) And then finally: in the chaos, you create order.
I love it…It seems like my head is cleared too. Time to fill the closet with new stuff.I'll keep you posted...
Below some pictures of fashion finds including a MaxMara dress my sister wore to her first prom (woehoe it fits me!) a jeans that was transformed into shorts yesterday and a Chine dress that boehoe does not fit me anymore (unless I go to a party and I hold my breath the entire time, i'm seriously considering this option)

Autumn 2010. Are you up for it?
I know it’s early and it feels like summer has only just begun, but I am looking for an excuse to go shopping. And guess what, the new arrivals for autumn 2010 are the perfect excuse.
(Going sales-shopping and coming home with nothing else but new collection, recognizable? Yep I already thought so, but if you can’t resist you better spend wisely so read carefully…)
Not to bother you with too many trends at once I have picked one (but no worries, surely the rest will follow the coming weeks/months) and I promise: it’s a good one.
MINIMALISM…
I might be bothering you with this all time favorite quote, but it’s oh so true:
Less is more
and that definitely goes for winter 2010.
My absolute favorite minimalist look is Dries Van Noten’s grey coat with khaki pants combined with a simple black shirt. How basic can one go? Now, the good thing is that this is not a difficult silhouette and anyone can get away with it! Invest in a good coat, grey is a great color, but also consider camel. You’ll see a lot of camel coats this winter, be the first! Get some nice figure-hugging pants, go vintage shopping for a cool bag and shoes and you are all set. How easy is that?
Another great (and perhaps a tiny bit more affordable) is the one below by COS. Again, easy peasy…
Wear a white tunic shirt (make sure you get one that suits your figure, not everybody can pull of a short wide tunic) add a great pair of black jeans, some fashionable ankle boots a satchel and again: all set!
Still need to be convinced of this style? The next silhouette could just convince you. Céline pairs a white shirt with an A line skirt. Make sure the skirt is not too long, it will make you look prudish rather than fashionable.
Enjoy your shopping trip…

Manic Monday Moments
Mondays tend to be quite a reality check after fabulous weekends, it’s what I like to call the Monday Blues.
Symptoms:
Putting off opening your mailbox because you know it’s full and the mails will keep on coming.
If you do manage to get it open first read the vente-exclusive updates and the mails you know don’t demand immediate action from your side.
(don’t you just love the phrase: for your information)
Starting to count down to lunch at 10.30
Planning the upcoming weekend
(I could go on for a while…)
So here’s the cure (or at least it will soften the pain):
MANIC MONDAY MOMENTS
Always make fun, relaxing plans for Monday nights so you have something to look forward to, it will brighten your whole day, and perhaps even your whole week!
My favorite Manic Monday Moments are spend at home, cocooning style. Getting home and putting on the crucial ‘lounging at home outfit’, some ideas below…it’s not because you’re at home that you have an excuse to be sloppy! A decent cocooning outfit is a must for any wardrobe, Etam Lingerie, Massimo dutti and Victoria’s secret have some great affordable choices.
Then, an easy dinner at home, I am always into sushi or a fast wok dish! Afterwards, some serious me time! Get into that bathroom, put on a mask, take a bath, paint your nails (I heard some guys also read my blog, so when masculine please don’t paint your nails, but rather groom your beard or polish your nails , the point is to do something nice for yourself!). My favorite nail polish is OPI, they have a great new green shade (Jade is the new black) , I love it, but it’s for those who dare…
Spoil yourself with some nice products, Rituals has a new line out: Rituals Tao and I am a fan! Tao is an ancient Chinese life philosophy, focusing on balancing the two types of energy: Yin and Yang. The line has 5 products, my personal favorite is the body cream (what a delightful smell: instant relaxation)!
To complete the night, transform yourself in the ultimate couch potato! Put a pot of tea (Green tea is always yummy, add some orange blossom for a sweeter effect, or earl grey with some fresh lemon, mmmm,) have a cookie (or two) , a blanket , a pile of cushions (or your roommate, boyfriend …for the soft feel) and you’re ready.
Television wise, on Monday nights I am in for the lighter stuff, we’re talking
Gossip girls, The Hills, Desperate housewives…in short, something that does not require your brain to work!
Don’t go to bed to late, spray some the Rituals Yin bed and body mist on your sheets to ensure the relaxing feeling stays all night. And hey it’s Tuesday, almost weekend!
Enjoy your Manic Monday Moment!

She’s got IT: Julia Restoin Roitfeld
Some girls just have it …that ‘je ne sais quoi’, that feel for fashion, that great closet, that sense of style.
One of them certainly is Julia Restoin Roitfeld.
She has the chique name (it sounds so great!), the looks, and well euh the connections (mom is Editor in Chief of French Vogue). If you would put her in a garbage bag, it would make you think: ‘hmmm a garbage bag, looking great. I should get one!’
So here some of her toplooks, watch and learn... And perhaps also start saving, because her taste is quite expensive. For those with not so positive cash flows, I recreated some of Julia’s looks: the knock off versions, see below...
Just to add some gossip: mom Carine Roitfeld was recently banned by Balenciaga and put on their black list. Speculations are still going on on the reason why, but (I admit this is the savviest theory) apparently Carine delivered a Balenciaga sample coat to MaxMara. And strangely enough…MaxMara then added a very similar coat to their collection. How bizarre!?
Julia wears dress by SEA, Miu Miu gladiator sandals and Miu Miu bag. Accessorised with Repossi, Eddie Borgo and Pamela Love jewellery. The sunglasses are Tom Ford.
Mother and daughter, Julia in Kate Moss for Topshop, and Carine Roitfeld in Givenchy couture.

Having A Ball At The Beach
Rumour (not really rumour, just meteoonline…) has it that it will be smoooking hot this weekend. I suggest we make ourselves look smoking hot too…
There are many many strategies to look hot on the beach.
1. Well, one is to create a body that looks like
a. Jennifer Anistons’
b. Cameron Diaz’
c. Jessica Alba’s
Hmm, since I would have to mark “d. none of the above”… for me this would
not be an option.
If it is for you: be happy and thank god and please also email me your secret…
Anyways 2 days is too short to create the above perfect body,
so on to the next strategy.
2. Accessorize!
I am a strong believer in accessories and the good thing is…they come in many forms and don’t always have to be expensive!
Jessica Alba displays the cheapest (though not always the easiest) option…She goes for the ‘a great beach boy on my side is always good’ look…
Other options include: invest in a nice pareo, some ‘water & sand resistant’ jewelry and off course not be missed: slippers (havaianas are not too expensive, stylish and they come in almost every color)
3. Have fun on the beach, you’ll look the part
One way to look hot is to look happy, so fun is the keyword here…
Having a ball with Kirsten, surf like Cameron (any other sport will do, petanque anyone?) or well (since strategie one was cancelled) have a nice ice cream and relax the Kate Hudson way!
Enjoy the weekend…

HAPPY HAPPY Me
Today is a happy happy day...
for many reasons:
1.It was a perfect weekend, and I do mean perfect!
(including a wedding, poolside relaxing,a barbeque and a romantic dinner, what more could you wish for?)
Did I mention the bride's dress was perfect too? Rosa Clara really is the shop for brides to be!
2. It's the first day I am wearing my new necklace from 'Isabelle Vermeersch Jewellery' and I love it!
Her classic, romantic and gorgeous jewellery are just my cup of tea... You can have your name enscribed, or have a beautiful text on a medaillon (I hesitated for the 'couture will set you free' medaillon)
I still have a bracelet in 'the make' so I hope i can add it to my collection soon.
More pictures to follow! (but for those who cannot wait... www.isabellevermeersch.com)
3. Tonight is spagetti night :)

HOT At The Office
Summer has hit the city, that's for sure...
But you really can't go to the office in a bikini and miniskirts. Unless your office is a beach bar that is... In any other setting, you do want your colleagues to appreciate you for your professional skills and not for your excellent booty work.
So what to do, what to do...
First of all, go for nice natural materials; cotton, linen... lycra is really not the way to go, unless you want you co-workers to start singing 'Smelly Cat' everytime you enter the office.
Olivia Palermo shows off a great outfit, it's cool and sophisticated, exactly the look an office girl needs. A simple white shirt & shorts are made stylish with a statement necklace, golden flats, and o well, let's also toss in a Birkin to complete the look!

These styles are easy to shop! Some inspiration...

A Brand New Blog
I'm a huge horoscope fan, especially when it tells me all good things will happen to me. This week my horoscope stated: libra, start a blog! So welll, here it is: my blog!I believe everyday should be a dressing party, so hence the name (Dressing because you do need a nice subject to blog about and I am quite sure nobody would care for my household tips, although I am quite good at cleaning)
Enjoy this blog!
