Forever 21

American clothing chain Forever 21 is coming to Belgium. Finally I might say, I can remember Forever 21 from the time I was studying in the US and I, coincidence or not, was 21. Which seems like forever... (sorry, very lame word joke, but I could not resist)
The concept? Style conscious, trend savy and great value(we're talking H&M/New Look/...prices): exactly what we like! The store in Brussels opens in june, for the one in Antwerp we'll have to wait until august. Start the countdown...

In the meantime, browse www.forever21.com to make your wishlist!

Ultimate White Dress: I think I found it

Just wanted to let you know that I think I found it : the perfect white dress.
Well, I need to specify this: I saw it on Nathalie Portman and it looks perfect.
And, in my head, I look just as stunning in it...
but, euhm, to be checked...

New addiction: Louise Roe

Is it terribly wrong to still have an idol when aged over 20?
Because recently I’ve become a big fan of Louise Roe. If my hubbie would allow it, I think I would seriously consider putting her poster in my bedroom.
It’s not the type of ‘Justin Bieber Mania’ idol thing, but still... it feels a tiny bit inappropriate.

So who’s this Louise lady some of you might think?

Well, you might know her of her appearance on the MTV reality soap “The City”. Make sure to watch the infamous episode where Olivia Palermo is late for covering fashion week for Elle.tv and Ooh Ooh convenient Louise fills in for her…
-> I immediately liked her.

And so did MTV because she now has her very own reality soap “Plain Jane” where she transforms a...Plain Jane (the name of the show was carefully chosen) into a fashionable confident woman. But that’s not the reason why I like her. I like her because of her cute English accent and impeccable fashion taste: girly and romantic yet edgy, and that's difficult to pull of. How to? Take an elegant piece and add funk to it. So combine that flower dress with a statement belt: Louise Style!

So rather than a poster, I’ll go for a lookbook of her best outfits...

In a spring mood

This weekend I was in a spring mood so I put on my flashy green pants, decided to go to the hairdresser and get a little blonder.

After reading a bunch of fashion magazines at the hairdresser (coloring takes time, loooots of time) I was, inevitably, in a shopping mood. So I got myself a yellow top, a coral top, a chunky turquoois necklaces and a chunky gold necklace (couldn’t choose!) oh, yes and a red bank account...

Below the result of my shopping spree.

Would it be ok if I blame:
a. The weather, the sun put me in a spending mood
and
b. The hairdresser?

Praying for my shoes of prey

After a whole weekend of searching for perfect ankle boots (both online and offline that is) I decided to finally give it a go: I ordered my personally designed pair of shoes at www.shoesofprey.com. And boy, did I have fun during the process! I must have clicked on the “buy now” button at least ten times to recheck the colors, the size and the model. Because, when you think of it: a lot could go wrong.

Now, I can only impatiently wait to see, smell, test and hopefully wear the result of my nerve wrecking quest. And waiting I will; my babies (I have every right to call these shoes my babies, after all I put my heart into their design and my funding into their making…) are only ready to be shipped 2nd of May. That means 8 weeks of waiting for what could be the perfect pair of shoes, or a waste of my time and money.

If it turns out the shoes are perfect, I have a lot more designs in my head to be realized! And if it goes wrong: a lesson learned…In the meantime, I can only pray for my shoes of prey to be nothing less than perfect. But seriously, how wrong could a tan leather ankle boot with snake skin detail be?

Obviously, I'll make sure to show them on the dressing party as soon as I lay my hands (feet!) on them.

Oh and if this post puts you in the mood to order your own pair: make sure to check the colors on the examples in the gallery! Below some of my favorites.

Be bold, wear color!

The first rays of sun are reaching us, and this is making me reach for: color! Put away the black coats, grey cardigans and brown boots and take out whatever you have in red/yellow/turquoois...

If you dear: go for the total look and combine red with purple, different shades of green, yellow with blue. Everything is possible this season. Too much for you? Just go for colored pants and add neutrals, or go for a color statement with bright accessories.

I was always into colors so this season I plan to go all the way! I added a mint green (zara) pants to my colored pants collection (see below) and I plan to wear it with a new green (also zara!) top and yellow accessories. Another plus of this trend? Wearing colors will put you in an instant bright mood. So i’d say it’s worth the try...yes, even if it’s raining.

One perfect Little White Dress please

For several weekends now, I have been hunting (really there’s no other name for it) for the perfect little white dress. The thing is, in May, I have an appointment at city hall to get married. So there’s a deadline and it’s not just any dress. Now, no worries, the official gown for the ceremony is in the pocket, but for city hall I was thinking a short little white dress that’s classic enough to withstand time (the pictures will last a lifetime) but in trend with 2011.At this point, I would even settle for beige, but then again, beige is really not my color and on my wedding day I’d rather not look pale…

So if you spot a perfect lwd, please inform me. You’d be saving me a first marriage crisis…
