Swapping Time

Saturday was swapping time in Antwerp. Not familiar with this fashion phenomenon? In short, this is how swapping works:

1. You bring in items from your wardrobe which you have (almost) never worn and will probably never wear. We all know we have piles of them…

2. Your clothes are carefully reviewed by the swapping team and you get swapping points in return.

3. All the clothes are hung in racks, you can try them out and what you want you put on the ‘wanted’ rack.

4. The clothes on the ‘wanted’ rack get auctioned. If just one person wants an item it goes for 1 swapping point, if not: auction time. Some items went as high as 20 points (for reference: I had 23 points in total…)

As it turns out...one person’s bad buy is another’s treasure. So basically our Saturday night activity was a proper treasure hunt. Luckily, I did find some little gems and got rid of my misfits in the meantime. Take a look below and see for yourself. A new life for perfectly good clothes with a proud new owner. Everyone happy!

The swapping event itself was a mixture between a shopping raid, a slumberparty (there were cupcakes, free mani’s and a hair salon) and a catfight (Let’s face it: a bunch of women together and a room full of clothes: it was inevitable) . But in the end, we all went home happy with our new stash of clothes. And well, if it turns out I never wear my new fashion finds, I just swap them again next time around...
